The capacity crowds that throng the downtown Great Dane Pub each weekend led to the inevitable questions about where and when a second Great Dane would open. These questions were answered in December 2002 when The Great Dane Pub & Brewing Company in Fitchburg began operations at Hatchery Hill just off of Fish Hatchery Road. The explosive residential growth of Fitchburg combined with the lack of full service, quality area dining establishments made the choice of location easy. The Great Dane’s commitment to quality products, outstanding service and a pleasing dining and drinking environment created the necessary synergy for a second successful business venture.

The Fitchburg Great Dane Pub has a decidedly more modern look than the downtown Great Dane- a result of its location in a newly constructed retail development as opposed to a hundred year old building. The contemporary feel is balanced by many traditional elements; polished copper brew vessels, dark woods and antique style light fixtures. The main bar area features a graceful, horseshoe shaped bar and a large projection television for watching the Badgers or Packers. The mezzanine level pool hall offers four Brunswick tables, darts, and great sight lines to watch the action in the main bar room below. The main dining room’s cushioned booths provide a comfortable venue for sampling the Great Dane’s wide-ranging, high quality food and beverage choices. The large outdoor patio’s wide awning lets guests choose between sun and shade. Our well-appointed private dining room can accommodate up to seventy guests for parties or business meetings.
