Great Dane raises $15,000 for Great Danes
How great is the Great Dane Pub and Brewing Co.? How about $15,000 great.
The local eatery and brew pub gave that amount to the Dane County Humane Society to help take care of 15 Great Danes at the shelter, seized in May from a Green County house.
"This donation couldn't have come at a better time," said Gayle Viney of the Humane Society in a news release announcing the donation. "We get extremely busy in the summer and caring for the Great Danes has caused our shelter to almost reach maximum capacity."
The Great Danes were among 46 dogs taken in May by Green County sheriff's deputies from a residence, with most of the dogs taken in by the Green County Humane Society.
The Dane County shelter partnered with the Green County shelter to take the 15 Great Danes in June.
Donations are still being accepted and wanted for the care and upkeep of the Great Danes, and the shelter is also asking for temporary volunteers to help in general cleaning and care duties at the shelter.
Volunteers would not be working with the Great Danes since they can only be cared for by the shelter staff, since the dogs technically are 'evidence' in proceedings against the four people involved in the case.
